How to prepare for the ICCDPP Symposium
We are now making the last preparations for the 9th ICCDPP Symposium and are looking very much forward to welcoming you all to Tromsoe. With the event only a few days away, here are some tips for how to prepare.
Read the synthesis papers
The four synthesis papers are now finalised and published. To prepare for the table discussions, you should have a look at the description of the four themes and read the synthesis papers.
To remind you of the symposium process: There will be four table discussions during the symposium, one for each theme. We have prepared questions to structure the table discussions, and the output of the discussions will feed into the communiqué. The last day, you will sit in country teams to discuss how to move forward after the symposium.
Take a look at the agenda
The agenda can be found here. We are happy to welcome six very interesting speakers: two keynote speakers from the OECD and Norway, and four catalyst speakers from India, Finland, Canada and South Africa. You can read more about the speakers here. We are also happy to welcome Tom Erlend Skaug, the state secretary from the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research, who will open the Symposium.
During the symposium, there will be a panel discussion with representatives from five international organisations: OECD, ETF, CEDEFOP, The European Commission and UNESCO, moderated by Spencer Niles (USA). You will also get more insight both in how the Nordic countries and Norway are working with lifelong guidance.
You can look forward to a hopefully pleasant and interesting social programme. We invite you to a welcoming dinner on Monday evening (19.00-21.00). On Wednesday we go out of town on a beautiful trip to Sommaroy, a picturesque coastal village that overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. The last evening, we invite you to a Symposium dinner to celebrate the 9th ICCDPP symposium. We really hope you will enjoy it!
Like/follow the Symposium facebook page
During the Symposium, we will use this facebook-page to share updates, pictures and information on what is going on. This allows you to follow the event online, and to invite colleagues and friends to like the page and get an impression of the symposium.
Pack your bags!
Remember to bring both ordinary summer clothes and clothes for rain and wind. The temperature in Tromsoe is today for instance 10⁰C, so bring a jacket that will keep you warm. We also suggest a pair of good shoes, for the trip to Sommaroy. Are you curious about the weather in Tromsoe, take a look at this web-camera from the Arctic University of Norway. As you can see, still a little snow on the mountain-tops!
What to do when you arrive?
When you arrive at Tromsoe Airport, you are only 5 km away from the venue. You find information about how to get there at the bottom of this page. If you have any questions upon arrival, you will find us at the reception desk in the lobby from 12.00 on Monday the 17th. This is also where you register and find us during the whole event.
